Orlando – A shooting rampage in Florida resulted in the deaths of three individuals, among them a child and a TV news worker who was reporting on one of the shootings.

According to police, a shooting spree in Florida claimed three lives on Wednesday, including a child and a TV news reporter who was covering one of the incidents. The victim worked for Spectrum News 13 and was identified by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office as one of the deceased. During a press conference, Sheriff John Mina announced that Keith Melvin Moses, a 19-year-old suspect, has been charged with murder in connection with one of the shootings, and is expected to face charges related to four other incidents that took place later in the day, including the killing of the Spectrum News 13 journalist.

During a press conference, Sheriff John Mina revealed that Keith Melvin Moses, the suspect charged in connection with the shooting spree that occurred in Florida on Wednesday, has a lengthy criminal record that includes gun charges, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and assault with a deadly weapon.

Mina reported that deputies were called to the 6100 block of Hialeah Street at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, where they discovered a woman in her 20s who had been shot and later died from her injuries. Police collected evidence and launched an investigation into the incident.

Mina stated that it is currently unknown why the suspect targeted the two journalists and the mother and daughter who were also shot in the rampage, which continued at around 4:05 p.m. with another shooting in the area.

According to Mina, the two journalists, a photographer and a reporter, were shot in or around their vehicle, which was parked in the same location where the homicide occurred earlier in the day. The sheriff noted that it is unclear why they were targeted and that investigators will be looking into the matter.

Following the shooting of the journalists, police received reports of a third shooting at a nearby location, where a woman and her 9-year-old daughter were shot inside their home. The child passed away as a result of her injuries.

Mina stated that it remains unclear why the suspect entered the home and committed the shooting.

Dan Shelley, CEO of the Radio Television Digital News Association, expressed his condolences via Twitter, acknowledging the death of a MyNews13 journalist who was covering the earlier incident.
