BASEBALL COACH SAVES DRIVER AFTER CRASH
PLANTATION, FLORIDA: A courageous baseball player in Plantation recently recounted the heart-stopping experience of rescuing a driver with a group of good Samaritans. While practicing field drills with a friend, Caleb Martos heard a crash and rushed to assist the driver whose car had crashed into a power pole on Sunrise Boulevard, causing a transformer to explode and the vehicle to burst into flames. Martos described how the car hit another vehicle before flying through a red light and colliding with the electrical pole, resulting in a fiery explosion. Martos, a student-athlete playing baseball for the University of Fort Lauderdale, was practicing with his team at Plantation High School’s field when he heard a crash and ran to help with his friend Duval Rodriguez and a coach. They found the driver, Charles Sedner, unconscious in his car, which had crashed into a power pole causing explosions and flames. Despite the wires and explosions, the players attempted to rescue Sedner, and Martos broke a window with the help of a woman with a bat. Three other men helped to pull Sedner out of the car just before it caught fire. Sedner’s family is grateful to the players for their courage and quick response, and Martos credits his faith for guiding him to help. Sedner suffered serious injuries and faces a long road to recovery. Martos and his friends plan to start a GoFundMe page to help Sedner outfit his home for an easier recovery process.
