THIEVES STEAL WHEELS OFF CAR IN DAVIE

DAVIE: The BSO is currently conducting a search for two individuals who were captured on surveillance video stealing the tires of a car in a parking lot in Davie. The incident resulted in the car being left on blocks after the thieves took the tires and rims.

Late on Monday night, an unidentified vehicle arrived at the parking lot, and the two thieves swiftly removed all four tires from a black Honda Accord. The victim, upon viewing the clear video footage, speculated that the car being targeted might have been stolen.

The surveillance video shows the unknown car immediately approaching the 2019 Honda Accord. The woman who witnessed the incident stated, “It seemed like two individuals who completed the act in under five minutes. One of them almost appeared to be a woman, but it was indeed two people. They executed the theft very smoothly.” The thieves displayed audacity as a resident walked by while they positioned a jack under the Honda and stole its tires within minutes. The bolts from the tires were left behind.

“They were there at 1:46 am, and by 1:52 am, they were gone,” mentioned the woman. Although the resident chose to remain anonymous, they expressed their distress and violation following the incident. They emphasized their strong desire for the culprits to be apprehended, stating, “I’m extremely upset, and it feels like a violation. It’s as if someone entered my home and stole something. I feel violated. We work hard every day, and people like this are just scum. They should find jobs like we have. It’s pretty messed up.”

The residents promptly notified the police and suspect that the tire thieves might have targeted another vehicle in the vicinity as well. They are now relying on the surveillance video to assist in the identification and arrest of the perpetrators.

“I’ve already contacted the insurance company, and I’m waiting for an adjuster to call me back,” explained the resident. “It’s definitely going to cost some money since we have to pay our deductible. It’s inconvenient and results in financial and work-related losses. I know it will eventually be resolved, but it’s a significant setback and devastating. Thankfully, no one was harmed.”

Authorities have reported that the two thieves targeted two cars during the overnight spree.

STOLEN WHEELS AND INSURANCE POLICIES THAT COVER THEFT

The theft of rims, tires, and wheels from motor vehicles is unfortunately a common occurrence that can leave vehicle owners frustrated and financially burdened. In response to such incidents, many insurance policies offer coverage for stolen parts, providing some relief to the affected individuals.

When it comes to insurance coverage for stolen parts off motor vehicles, it typically falls under comprehensive auto insurance. Comprehensive coverage is an optional add-on to a standard auto insurance policy, and it offers protection against non-collision-related incidents such as theft, vandalism, fire, and natural disasters.

Under comprehensive coverage, stolen rims, tires, and wheels are typically covered if the policyholder has selected the appropriate coverage level. However, it’s important to note that insurance policies and coverage limits can vary, so it’s crucial to review the specific terms and conditions of the policy. Some policies may include stolen parts coverage as a standard feature, while others may require an additional endorsement or add-on to provide coverage for stolen parts.

When filing a claim for stolen rims, tires, or wheels, the policyholder should follow the usual claims process. This involves contacting the insurance company as soon as possible to report the theft and provide any required documentation, such as a police report and proof of ownership. The insurance company will then assess the claim and, if approved, provide compensation based on the coverage limits and deductibles specified in the policy.

It’s worth mentioning that insurance policies often have certain limitations and conditions that apply to stolen parts coverage. For example, some policies may require the policyholder to select specific aftermarket parts coverage or to install anti-theft devices on their vehicle. Additionally, coverage limits may vary depending on the value of the stolen parts and the overall policy terms.

To ensure appropriate coverage for stolen parts, vehicle owners should carefully review their insurance policies and consider discussing their needs with their insurance agent or representative. They should also take precautions to minimize the risk of theft by parking in well-lit areas, using security measures like wheel locks, and being vigilant of any suspicious activities around their vehicles.

In summary, insurance policies that cover stolen parts off motor vehicles, such as rims, tires, and wheels, typically fall under comprehensive auto insurance. Policyholders should review their policies to understand the specific coverage, deductibles, and conditions related to stolen parts. By taking appropriate measures and having the right insurance coverage policy to cover theft of automotive parts, vehicle owners can mitigate the financial impact of theft and have peace of mind knowing that they are protected against such unfortunate incidents.
