Former Seahawk Dies in Motorcycle Accident
FATAL MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT IN LAUDERDALE LAKES
Former NFL running back Alex Collins, known for his tenure with the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident in Lauderdale Lakes, South Florida. He was 28 years old.
Collins was operating a motorcycle when it collided with a sport-utility vehicle while the latter was making a left turn. The crash led to Collins being thrown through a window of the SUV, resulting in his untimely death. The SUV driver, whose identity has not been revealed, cooperated with authorities at the scene.
The news was met with grief and shock, prompting Collins’ family to release a statement through the Seahawks. The statement conveyed how beloved Alex was by his family, friends, and fans all over the world, emphasizing his strong determination and charismatic personality. The family requested prayers and support during this challenging time.
Collins initially gained recognition as a college football player at Arkansas, where he consistently rushed for more than 1,000 yards during his three seasons. He became renowned for a memorable play in 2015 during a game against Mississippi, when he managed to convert a crucial fourth-and-25 situation, contributing to Arkansas’ victory.
During his professional career, Collins played for the Seahawks for three seasons and then spent two seasons with the Ravens. Notably, he achieved a rushing yardage of 973 yards for the Ravens in 2017. Ravens coach John Harbaugh praised Collins for his uplifting spirit, strong determination, and significant contributions to the team’s success during his time in Baltimore.
In recent times, Collins had been playing for the Memphis Showboats in the USFL. The sudden and tragic passing of Alex Collins has left a void in the football community, with many expressing their condolences and memories of his remarkable talents and character.
