The hit & run incident occurred at the intersection of Northwest 17th Avenue and 29th Street when a gray truck struck a pedestrian and then fled the scene. The hit & run victim’s condition is currently unknown, and both the victim’s identity and condition are under investigation as authorities seek more details about the injured person. Hit-and-Run Suspect Surrenders After Striking Two Teens in Miami Beach

Miami Beach, FLA. – A 40-year-old woman has turned herself in to authorities at the Miami Beach Police Department following a hit-and-run incident that left two teenagers injured in Miami Beach. This incident sheds light on the hit-and-run laws in Florida.

Arrest and Surrender

The driver surrendered herself to the Miami Beach Police Department on Monday, shortly after news report about the two injured teenagers involved in the accident, speaking out about the incident. Her surrender occurred at approximately 10:43 AM.

Collision Details

According to the police report, the incident took place as the driver was traveling northbound on Pine Tree Drive, passing the intersection of 26th Street, with the intention of continuing northbound on Sheridan Avenue. At the time of the collision, She had a solid green traffic light. Tragically, her vehicle struck the two young victims who were attempting to cross Sheridan Ave and Pine Tree Drive.

The force of the impact propelled the victims approximately 20 feet forward, resulting in severe injuries. After the collision, she briefly interacted with the victims and two juvenile witnesses but then fled the scene heading northbound on Sheridan Avenue. It’s crucial to note that she failed to provide aid or contact 911 in the immediate aftermath of the accident. One of the hit & run accident victims sustained road rash and abrasions, while the other victim suffered a laceration to his head and a significant leg injury that necessitated multiple surgeries. Both victims were transported to the Ryder Trauma Unit by Miami Beach Fire Rescue.

Legal Consequences

Following her arrest, she was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without any incidents. She now faces legal consequences for her involvement in this distressing hit-and-run incident. In her statement to the police, she admitted to panicking and fleeing the scene after the accident, expressing remorse for the injuries inflicted on the children.

In Florida, hit-and-run accidents are taken very seriously. Leaving the scene of an accident, especially one resulting in injuries, can lead to severe legal penalties.
