Fort Lauderdale Police are actively searching for the driver of a dark Jeep Wrangler involved in a fatal accident with a pedestrian early Sunday morning. The incident occurred on the 100 block of Northwest 1st Street, where a passerby discovered 73-year-old pedestrian accident victim unresponsive around 6:25 a.m. He pronounced dead at the scene.

Surveillance footage shows the pedestrian accident victim lying near the curb in front of the Jeep around 2:06 a.m. When the vehicle’s occupants returned, the driver unknowingly drove forward, running over the victim. Police have not accused the driver of any crime but are seeking them for further investigation.

Fort Lauderdale accident lawyers understand that Fort Lauderdale experiences heavy traffic and congestion, especially along major routes. Some of the busiest roadways and intersections, where accidents are more likely to occur, include:

  1. Broward Boulevard: Known for high traffic volumes, particularly around Downtown Fort Lauderdale.
  2. Interstate 95 (I-95): A heavily congested corridor, especially during rush hours, connecting Fort Lauderdale to surrounding areas.
  3. US-1 (Federal Highway): Serving as a major north-south route, it experiences significant congestion and accident rates.
  4. Sunrise Boulevard and Andrews Avenue Intersection: One of the city’s busiest intersections with frequent delays and traffic incidents.

In response, local authorities are implementing measures to manage congestion and improve safety, focusing on better signage, enhanced traffic signals, and public awareness campaigns.
