Dashcam Video Shows FHP Trooper Using PIT Maneuvers During Alligator Alley Pursuit; 3 Teens Arrested
DAVIE, FLA. – Newly released dashcam footage captures a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) trooper performing multiple PIT maneuvers on a stolen vehicle during a pursuit on Alligator Alley in Broward County, resulting in the arrest of three teenagers.
The chase occurred on May 21 when a trooper clocked a vehicle traveling at 107 mph southbound on Interstate 75 and began to pursue it. According to FHP, the Kia SUV had been stolen from Collier County.
The video shows the trooper speeding toward the Kia and initiating a PIT maneuver by striking the back driver’s side, causing the SUV to spin out. Despite this, the Kia veered off the road, continued driving on the grass, and eventually re-entered the highway.
The trooper, now behind the Kia again, performed a second PIT maneuver, causing the vehicle to spin out of control and come to a stop. The three teens inside exited the vehicle with their hands up.
“Get on the ground now. Get on the ground now!” a trooper is heard shouting in the video. The teens complied and were taken into custody.
Troopers discovered several ID cards, screwdrivers, and a handgun inside the vehicle. The driver, 17-year-old Torey Holli, along with two 15-year-old passengers, were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing and eluding, possession of ID cards, and possession of a firearm.

The dashcam footage obtained exclusively by a local crew shows an incident involving the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) using the Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver on an impaired driver who refused to stop on the MacArthur Causeway in March. The FHP trooper suspected the driver of the Nissan SUV to be impaired and decided to use the PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle since there was light traffic and no other cars in the area. The maneuver caused the car to cross over the median and into the westbound lanes, but luckily, neither of the two people inside the vehicle sustained serious injuries. The driver was charged with several offenses, including driving recklessly and drunk, fleeing and eluding, driving under the influence, and driving a stolen car from New York City. The female passenger was injured but not charged. According to an officer of the FHP, vehicles fleeing from the police are often driving recklessly and not following the rules.
