Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill Victim of Excessive Force by Police

A body camera video from Miami-Dade police shows an altercation between officers and Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill during a traffic stop before a game. Hill was pulled over for speeding near Hard Rock Stadium. When officers asked him to lower his window, he complied but later raised it, leading to a heated exchange. After refusing repeated commands, officers forcibly removed Hill from his car, handcuffing him and pinning him to the ground. Hill received two citations but wasn’t arrested, while one officer was placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

Hill’s legal team claims the officers’ use of force was excessive. Despite the escalation, Hill said he remained respectful. Dolphins teammates that oversaw the situation, attempted to de-escalate the matter, but Campbell was briefly handcuffed. The incident raised concerns about excessive force, particularly among Black players, with some, like a Miami Dolphins safety noting the frequency of such events in the U.S. Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel expressed emotional distress over the incident, emphasizing the uncertainty of what could have happened.

This isn’t Hill’s first controversy, as he has a past involving domestic violence accusations. However, this incident is under investigation with no criminal charges filed so far.
