Hit & Run in NE Miami-Dade

A motorist involved in a crash scene fled and crashed into the entrance of an apartment complex in Northeast Miami-Dade, prompting a police investigation. An eyewitness reported that a black Honda sedan was traveling at high speed when the driver lost control near the intersection of Northeast 13th Avenue and 119th Street, shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Friday. Footage of the aftermath revealed the severely damaged Honda, with its front bumper missing.

According to an eyewitness, the incident began when the Honda driver collided with his SUV on Biscayne Boulevard, resulting in minor damage to the rear bumper of his vehicle. An eyewitness recounted, “I saw his lights approaching from behind, and then ‘Boom,’ he collided with me.” Following the collision, the driver briefly inspected the damage to his car before returning to his vehicle and driving away. The eyewitness considered the incident a loss after the collision and did not pursue the driver.

An eyewitness stated that the driver of the Honda continued speeding through the neighborhood until crashing into the fence at the entrance of the apartment complex less than two minutes later. He described the sequence of events: “I observed him driving recklessly down the street. I thought, ‘Wow, that’s the same person.’ Then, I saw the taillights go up in the air and flip.”

Despite the hit-and-run incident involving his SUV, Kemp approached the driver’s car to ensure his well-being and promptly called 911. He recounted, “I went up to the car and asked, ‘Hey, are you all right, are you all right?’ He regained consciousness, stumbled out of the car, and began speaking to me. He pleaded, ‘Oh, I’ll Zelle you some money, don’t call the police, don’t call the police.’ I responded, ‘I already called the police because I thought you were dead.'”

The driver, whose identity remains unknown, was transported to the hospital, and his condition is currently undisclosed. The entrance gate of the apartment complex suffered damage, as did portions of the concrete barrier wall. Later, news cameras captured the front bumper of the Honda near the debris from the damaged wall.

The  eyewitness expressed his perspective on the situation, remarking, “Karma, man.” The police have not specified the potential charges the Honda driver may face, if any, as they continue their investigation. (News source 7 News Miami)
