Hit and Run leads to Death of Pedestrian in Miami

An investigation is underway for a hit-and-run incident in Miami that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. On Monday, emergency crews closed the northbound lanes on Northwest 27th Avenue while police gathered evidence. The incident occurred around 6:45 a.m. near 37th Street where a man was found unresponsive and pronounced dead by Miami Fire Rescue.

Officials suspect that the man was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. Surveillance video from a nearby business captured the incident at 6:09 a.m., showing a man crossing the street before a black pickup truck hit him and drove off. Investigators gathered evidence and the medical examiners took the body, causing the road to be shut down between Northwest 36th Street and the 112th Airport Expressway for several hours.

The road has since reopened, but police are still searching for the driver and requesting assistance from the public. Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
