A hit-and-run driver was taken into custody after colliding with a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) trooper on Interstate 75 in Weston. The incident, reported around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, involved a reckless driver crashing into the FHP trooper’s vehicle, prompting a widespread search conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies.

The event transpired on the northbound lanes of I-75 near Indian Trace in Weston, as depicted in aerial footage captured by a local news source. The search unfolded with deputies scouring through bushes, armed and accompanied by K-9 units. The manhunt successfully concluded just before 9 a.m., resulting in the apprehension and handcuffing of the 49-year-old suspect.

Paramedics provided on-site medical evaluation for the hit & run driver, placing him on a stretcher before transporting him to the hospital. The hit & run driver in a grey T-shirt featuring an American flag on the front and U.S.A. on the back, now faces charges related to the hit-and-run collision.

The injured FHP trooper, whose injuries were determined as non-life-threatening, is in the process of recovery. Following hospital clearance, the hit & run driver was transferred to Broward County Jail, where he faces charges including failure to stop at an accident with non-serious injuries, two counts of leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, leaving the scene of an accident without providing ID, and resisting arrest without violence.

The hit & run driver was assigned a $3,450 bond. The FHP trooper’s vehicle, visibly damaged on the back and front left side, collided with the median barrier. Additionally, a black SUV, significantly damaged, was discovered farther down the road. A photo from the FHP highlighted the extensive damage to the Porsche involved, depicting a substantial portion of the vehicle missing. The hit-and-run driver fled the scene on foot, prompting an extensive manhunt involving Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and FHP troopers. (News source: 7news Miami)
