A frightening car accident in Coral Springs is drawing attention to the danger motorists face when crashes occur near South Florida’s extensive canal system. According to local news reports, a 34-year-old driver was traveling westbound on West Sample Road near Riverside Drive when another vehicle reportedly moved in front of his 2026 Hyundai Kona. Police said the driver veered toward the northeast corner of the intersection, crashed through a guardrail, and plunged into a canal.
Four people were inside the SUV. Fortunately, the driver and three passengers escaped safely, and no injuries were reported. Police temporarily closed a traffic lane while investigating the accident. The August 24 incident occurred at the same Sample Road/Riverside Drive area where another vehicle entered a canal in 2024.
