Life Sentence to Drunk Driver

Ocala, Florida. A man in Florida was sentenced to life in prison for causing a DUI crash that resulted in the death of two young girls and their grandfather. Stephen Lynn, 52, pleaded no contest to three counts of DUI manslaughter and other traffic offenses in November, and was sentenced by a circuit judge in Ocala after about two hours of testimony from both Lynn’s family and the family of the victims.

Lynn was arrested by state troopers in November 2019 after his pickup truck ran a stoplight and collided with a compact SUV being driven by Emilio Nunez, who had just picked up his granddaughters, 9-year-old Nevaeh Nunez and 7-year-old Katalaya Nunez, from school. All three died in the crash. At the scene, state troopers administered a field sobriety test, and the results from a court-ordered blood test revealed that Lynn was under the influence of methamphetamine and two other substances at the time of the accident.

During the sentencing hearing, Lynn’s defense attorney requested a four-year prison sentence followed by probation, arguing that Lynn did not have evil intentions and that the crash resulted from bad judgment. However, the assistant state attorney argued that Lynn deserved life in prison because he did not express remorse for the victims and only thought about himself. The prosecutor also noted that on the day of the crash, a passenger in Lynn’s vehicle had offered to drive because Lynn appeared unwell.

Our thoughts and best wishes go out to the family of the deceased victim following this tragic accident in Ocala.

Mato conduciendo borracho – Condenado a Perpetua
