Miami Police Officers Hospitalized After Car Crash

A Miami-Dade Schools Police officer and a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy were hospitalized after their vehicles collided near Northwestern Senior High School on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 4:50 p.m. at NW 67th Street and 10th Avenue when the deputy, part of the Robbery Intervention Detail, struck the marked school police unit. Emergency responders rushed both officers to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where they were treated for injuries but are expected to fully recover.

Footage from the scene showed the school police car crashing through a fence, while the deputy’s car suffered heavy front-end damage. Authorities temporarily closed the road for an investigation, which has since concluded.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
