MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. – A chaotic confrontation at a South Florida gym that ended with a man stabbed and another arrested was caught on camera. Miami Gardens Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the 24-Hour Fitness, located at 19371 NW 27th Ave., around 6 p.m. in May. Police reported that the suspect, a 28-year-old man, came to the gym looking for a fight. When the two men started punching each other, the suspect pulled out a knife. Video footage showed the suspect entering the gym without signing in. Moments later, he retrieved a knife from his gym bag. After an exchange of words with another man, the two began fighting, rolling on the floor as they jabbed each other in the face and body. As the fight continued, the suspect allegedly took out the knife and stabbed the other man in the chest, forearm, and hip.

The arrest report indicated that the fight began after the suspect approached the victim at the gym and made remarks about his disabled daughter. Witnesses saw the fight unfold, describing the commotion and seeing the stabbing. A woman was seen on video watching the fight and bracing herself as the two men began throwing punches. Surveillance video showed the victim running toward the front door, leaving a trail of blood, while the suspect ran toward a rear exit with a blood-stained shirt.

Body camera footage, obtained exclusively by a local news source, showed the police response at the gym when the victim was found. The footage captured the victim yelling in pain as rescue crews lifted him onto a stretcher. An off-duty officer at the gym described the suspect as a “Hispanic male, full of blood.” Two off-duty officers at the gym rushed to help the victim, applying pressure to his wounds while waiting for fire rescue’s arrival. The victim was airlifted to Aventura Hospital’s trauma unit due to the severity of his injuries and is currently recovering. Moments later, drone footage showed the suspect, shirtless, running around the area following the stabbing. A police dispatcher noted that the suspect was running through an apartment complex. Officers combed the area for the on-the-run suspect. Nearly a month after the gym stabbing, the suspect surrendered to Miami Gardens Police. Although the suspect did not provide a motive, the victim suggested there was bad blood over an ex-lover. The suspect remains behind bars and is charged with attempted murder.
