A violent early-morning crash in West Miami-Dade sent three teenagers to the hospital after their car slammed into a wall and caught fire. The car accident occurred around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday near Southwest 68th Street and 142nd Avenue in the Kendall Lakes area, according to authorities.
Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office arrived to find a single vehicle engulfed in fire after colliding with a wall. The three occupants, ages 15 to 17, had managed to escape the vehicle before first responders arrived. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue quickly extinguished the blaze and transported the teens to a nearby hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition. Investigators are still working to determine what caused the crash.
Insurance Coverage After a Crash Into a Wall
When a driver crashes into a fixed object like a wall, fence, or building, insurance coverage depends heavily on the policy in place. In Florida, vehicle damage in these situations is typically covered under:
- Collision coverage – Pays for damage to the driver’s vehicle, even when no other car is involved
- Property damage liability – May apply if the wall or structure belongs to another person or entity
- Comprehensive coverage – May apply if the fire itself caused additional damage beyond the impact
Without collision coverage, drivers or vehicle owners may be left paying out of pocket for extensive damage, especially in high-speed crashes involving fire (see Types of Car Insurance in Florida).
