MIAMI – Three individuals were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle accident involving a tour bus in downtown Miami.
The collision occurred around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday near Northeast Fourth Street and Biscayne Boulevard. Footage captured by local news outlets showed the tour bus stopped off the road, having struck and toppled a tree.
Miami Police reported that the crash involved four vehicles. The driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident involving the tour bus, shared his account with a local news source, saying he was caught off guard when the accident happened.
“I was in the center lane, and the bus was stopped, picking up passengers. Suddenly, it sped out and took me with it, pushing me up,” he explained in Spanish. “It was terrifying, and there were people on the upper level of the bus.”
Two victims were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center, and one was transported to the University of Miami Hospital. Fortunately, no severe injuries to those involved in the accident were reported.
Recovery crews worked to tow the bus off the fallen tree and back onto Biscayne Boulevard, causing a brief lane closure lasting approximately 20 minutes. The bus and the damaged portion of the tree have since been cleared from the area.
The cause of the multi-vehicle accident remains under investigation, and it is not yet known if the bus driver will face charges and held accountable for the accident. BigBusTours.com, the company operating the tour bus, has not released a statement about the incident.
