Fatal Collision on Southbound Florida Turnpike in Northwest Miami-Dade: Heavy Traffic Delays and Alternate Routes Suggested
NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. – A fatal rear-end collision involving two tractor-trailers on the southbound Florida Turnpike near the I-95 interchange resulted in the tragic death of one person. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, just before the Turnpike merges with the Palmetto Expressway.
Aerial footage captured the aftermath, showing one truck jackknifed and extensive damage to both vehicles—one with severe front-end destruction and the other with significant rear-end damage. Additionally, a third vehicle spun off the roadway, coming to rest in the grass beside the Turnpike. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews responded promptly, and at least one person has been reported injured.
As a result of the crash, multiple southbound lanes are blocked, causing significant traffic delays and heavy congestion. Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
