Truck Crash on the Dolphin Expressway
A collision occurred on the entrance ramp from the Dolphin Expressway to the Palmetto Expressway involving a large truck. Emergency responders, including Florida Highway Patrol officers and firefighters, arrived at the scene to assess the damage to the tractor-trailer, which was hanging over the guardrail. The truck lost control and crashed into the guardrail due to improper navigation of a curve, according to FHP.
Aerial footage from 7Skyforce showed the damaged trailer suspended on the ramp’s guardrail, but the driver of the truck was unharmed. The ramp had to be closed for a significant amount of time while debris was cleared and the container was removed. However, it has since reopened for northbound traffic.

In Miami, commercial vehicles are commonly seen, ranging from small vans delivering goods to large 18-wheel trucks transporting heavy containers. When accidents involve commercial trucks in Miami, multiple parties may be involved on behalf of the truck, depending on its size and load. In cases of accidents with heavily loaded 18-wheelers, the truck owner, leasing company (if applicable), truck manufacturer (in case of vehicle defects), and those involved in loading the cargo may all be included in a trucking accident claim for compensation.
It’s important for individuals involved in accidents with commercial trucks to understand that these vehicles, especially those carrying heavy loads, are typically covered by insurance policies that protect injured parties. According to statistics from the Federal Carrier Safety Administration, approximately 420,000 trucks were involved in crashes in 2015, resulting in around 83,000 reported injuries, numerous fatalities, significant property damage, and losses.
If you or someone you know has been injured in a commercial truck accident in Miami, Perazzo Law strongly advises contacting them online for a free consultation. The responsibility for a commercial vehicle accident in Miami lies with the driver, who must adhere to traffic laws applicable to their location and the type of vehicle being operated, whether it’s a scooter or a semi-truck on a highway or avenue. However, it’s worth noting that the driver may not be at fault if the vehicle owner or leasing company fails to provide a properly functioning vehicle. Additionally, some trucking accidents may result from improper loading procedures or overloading. It is crucial to determine the condition of the truck and its cargo at the time of the accident. The personal injury attorneys at Perazzo Law have extensive experience dealing with trucking accidents involving defective trucks or parts, improper loading, and adherence to vehicle safety standards on Miami roads, avenues, and streets.
